Jaz Sleeper
Hi, I'm Jaz :)

I'm a community arts practitioner/ qualified yoga teacher based in Manchester. My creative practise is centred around sustainability, community and holistic wellbeing.

The pictures below give a sense of my practise- with some pictures of my portfolio, and a summary of my work in this past year, which has centred around paying reverence to the elements. This has looked like;

. AIR - a hand spun alpaca woven and embellished piece with collections from the tea farm in the west Scottish landscape where it was made. (Collab with Ruby)
. EARTH - a spinning and weaving workshop at Platt Fields Market Garden with MUD + Factory International, we made 2 collaborative woven pieces from discarded waste and natural foraged materials

. FIRE - a tactile mandala hand spun and woven from precious natural and man made collections. Inspired by Yogic and Buddhist philosophies

. WATER - a well dressing at Platt Fields Market Garden (a pagan ritual to create a natural mosaic to give thanks to water) The next will be in Frivolous Fields Folk Fest on Sat 14th June 2025

Some other cherished community projects:
. Strong Roots craft sessions (refugee and asylum seeker group, Platt Fields Market Garden, MUD)
. RNIB project whilst studying BA Hons Textiles at MMU

I believe in art as an expression of our humanity... I'm just a human who loves to create and I adore the power of the creative process in sparking joy, presence and connection. The greatest joy of all is to hold space for this practise for others. If you're looking for a space holder let me know, let's chat x
